Farundell -Summer Reading for Lovers of Magic

Some good news! Amazon is already shipping copies of L.R.Fredericks novel ‘Farundell’ ahead of its 19 August official launch date. If you like magic and want to be drawn into a sophisticated world which engages with the age-old issues of mortality, levels of consciousness and the purpose of life, then I think you will love this book. It’s the first in a series which may explain why some Amazon reviewers didn’t ‘get’ the story, but it’s also just as likely they didn’t ‘get’ it because they don’t have the kind of worldview that most readers of this blog will have.

I read the book in manuscript form before it was published and was enchanted by it. Here’s what one reviewer says: ‘a novel which is truly occult and magical in a genuine way rather than full of childish shock horror and gore. Farundell is exactly that and takes one from the drab grey of everyday life, albeit set in the 1920s, to the glittering vistas of the magical imaginaton. In fact whilst the story is very different to C.S. Lewis’s Narnia books, the writing and feel is very reminiscent of his work; as if the Pevensie children had all grown up, lived life-shattering experiences and then returned back to the old professor’s house, this time for an adult adventure.’

Some of you will know the author of this book, but my lips are sealed.
