Groucho or Karl? I think Karl today, sent by a friend in reference to upcoming elections in India:
The oppressed are allowed once every few years to decide which particular representatives of the oppressing class are to represent and repress them.
Karl Marx
Freedom and oppression must be on many minds lately. I’d just sent an email to a friend before reading your blog and told her to tell someone she’d been arguing with that “as long as any amongst us are still oppressed, we are not truly free.”
Always happy to read a Marx quote – Karl or Groucho.

I mention this quote, among other good Marxist propositions, in the course I teach at the U of Guelph on Business Ethics. In fact I’m contemplating writing a book on business ethics from a community / spiritual / human point of view. As opposed to the mechanistic, economic, and classist point of view that seems to dominate all discourse on business ethics today.
