Hello Janet,
It was the story of Airmid's cloak and Diancecht, the god of healing. It is given in 'The Druid Plant Oracle' and I'd imagine you can find it on the net too if you google it.
The plant was 'Roseroots' - Rhodiola Rosaea
Glad you liked the talk!
Best wishes,
Philip

Hi Philip, I went to your talk at Burgess Hill. I really enjoyed it. I was particularly moved by the story you told of the father who killed his son out of jealousy, due to his ability to heal being greater. Please can you tell me where I can source this story from, is it in one of your books?

Also can you remind me of the name of the sacred rose plant you mentioned in your speech?

The plant and animal cards are beautiful. I will definitely be purchasing some soon! No doubt they will become a tool in my therapy work.

Many thanks

Hi Alison!
So glad you like the Tarot.
The books in the bibliography of The Druid Plant Oracle are all excellent. If I had to recommend four I'd say:

Beith, Mary, Healing Threads – Traditional Medicines of the Highlands and Islands, Polygon 1995
Hopman, Ellen Evert, A Druid’s Herbal for the Sacred Earth Year, Destiny 1995
Lavender, Susan and Franklin, Anna, Herbcraft – A Guide to the Shamanic and Ritual Use of Herbs, Capall Bann, 1996
Paine, Angela, The Healing Power of Celtic Plants, O Books, 2006

Maybe start with the last two on this list...

Fascinating. I'm a huge fan of your Druid Craft Tarot. I have committed to using it as my working deck for 12 months. So far, feedback on readings is very positive - so well done all of you in creating such a useful Tarot.

I particularly love your Tarot and Oracle decks because they feel so authentically 'British' when you are working with them.

On the subject of plants, we're looking at starting up a gardening project up here that aims to grow a wide variety of fruit and veg (and animals!) for us to use on the island. What you have written gives me 12 methods of looking at what we will grow and perhaps enable us to extend a plant's usefulness within the project beyond its original function.

Mind you - I can see us having a problem with any shamanic plant uses with the local constabulary ;-)

Can you recommend a good herbal uses type book? Loads on the market and I don't know what I ought to buy.

Another wonderful posting, many thanks.
